The road to Mount Kailash in western Tibet is officially closed during the period of our regularly scheduled Jonang Foundation pilgrimage for the Saga Dawa Horse Year Festival.
The two scheduled programs to Tibet during May and June will continue, but were re-routed to new pilgrimage sites in central and southeastern Tibet. This pilgrimage will be led by our director, Tibetologist Dr. Michael Sheehy. To join these programs, please contact us at [email protected] by May 10.
A new program was devised and scheduled for August with Mt. Kailash as the centerpiece. Though we designed the original program to be during the Horse Year Festival on Saga Dawa on June 13, the Tibetan tradition of pilgrimage around Kailash is for the entire Horse Year.
